Lifestyle Business Podcasts for Continuous Learning

As I go through my continuous learning and my “personal” Masters in Lifestyle Business I’ve discovered the awesomeness of Podcasts. Podcasts are one of those things that have been around a long time. It’s not like I didn’t know they were there. I just didn’t realize how much value I could get from them. If you aren’t already making podcasts part of your continuous learning, load up a podcast player onto your phone and start listening and learning.

As I started out on all of this continuous learning, focused on discovering everything I could about creating a lifestyle business, I kept coming across information pushing me towards podcasts. I think it first came up in Scott Fox’s book, Click Millionaires: Work Less, Live More with an Internet Business You Love
that I had been listening to. Around the same time I started having lunch a couple of times a month with Mark, a coworker who is sharing in the BEAUTIFUL experience we call a J.O.B. We meet up to talk about all of our goals we working on; it’s like our 2 person mastermind group. Mark, was sharing with me about the podcasts he likes to listen to. And then, as I started getting really serious about my learning my friend Clint turned me on to Pat Flynn’s podcast. At the time I was ½ way through my third week of my Masters in Lifestyle Business program and I was feeling kind of depressed. I needed a pick me up and decided to check out Pat Flynn’s Ask Pat Podcast.

That was all she wrote. I became addicted to another great resource in my quest to learn about how to start a lifestyle business and to work towards the goal of one day saying Goodbye to the J.O.B.

Listening to podcasts is now part of my day and I’ve collected a handful of favorites. They are:

Ask Pat
Internet Business Mastery
Entrepreneur on Fire
Ask Altucher
Thrifting for Profit

There are a handful of others here and there I’ve checked out, but these are my main shows I like to keep up on. Every now and then you come across some great information, and as John Lee Dumas of Entrepreneur on Fire likes to say, we become those five people we surround ourselves with the most. Each day, two of those people are John Lee Dumas and whichever guest he happens to have on the show. Typically, that guest is going to be a successful entrepreneur who has worked hard to get where they are in life, and has a thing or two they can teach us.

Podcasts are a great resource for learning about other successful people and seeing what steps they have gone through to become successful. I found listening to the programs to be a great way to keep myself motivated and lift me up during the times when I’m starting to doubt myself.

If you’re going to jump into using podcasts for your continuous learning you’re going to want to find a podcast player that is going to work for you. In the short amount of time that I’ve been listening to podcasts I’ve tried 3 different players and the third one was a charm. My player of choice is the free Player FM (https://player.fm/). It’s very user friendly, and although it could use some polish, it isn’t as “clunky” as the other two players I tried. What I really like about Player FM is that as you are listening to a podcast and it ends, the player just jumps right in to the next program in the lineup. No fumbling around while I drive to start and stop and look for the next one. It just keeps playing, one program after another until I get to my destination.

So if you aren’t listening to podcasts yet I can’t encourage you enough to get out there and try a few. If you are listening to podcasts feel free to comment on the post and share which ones are your favorites.
